Add another curling destination to Michigan’s map: South Haven.

Curling lessons are currently being offered on Tuesdays from 7:15 to 8:45, and there’s talk of some leagues starting up in the near future. More information can be found on the South Haven Ice Rink web site.

If you think you might enjoy curling this is a good way to find out. This league only lasts for three weeks, so there’s no huge commitment. It will be held every Monday evening, starting October 25th at 8:00pm. You will be introduced to the basic terminology, etiquette, techniques and strategy involved in the great sport of curling. All you need to play are loose fitting clothes and rubber soled shoes, like running shoes. Cost is $70. You will not be disappointed.

Learn to Curl Saturday April 3rd 7-9PM.

Come learn what this funny game is all about. On ice instructors will explain the game, technique and have you curling in no time. $15 for 1 hour of instruction and curling. Registration required. To register, email this address with your time preference.

All you need are some loose fitting clothes to allow for flexibility (blue jeans not recommended) and some rubber soled shoes, like running shoes. We’ll supply everything else. Please arrive 15 minutes early for off ice prep.

Future Monday night sessions may be in jeopardy as well; it all depends on how the K-Wings do as they work their way through the playoffs.

We had an amazing turnout for our learn to curl session on the 30th of January. Despite the fact that we had to wait an hour to get started due to a hockey tournament with lots of overtime games, there were about 70 people that stuck around to try out this crazy game of curling! People were told up front that they would likely leave with smiles on their faces, and that did appear to be the case. Keep checking back to this web site for updates on future Learn-to-Curl opportunities, and remember that you can come back on Monday evenings at 8:30 for open curling… refine your skills, bring some friends, and consider joining our league!
