Do-Dah Parade

June 2, 2012 – 11 a.m.

The Do-Dah Parade has been a Kalamazoo tradition for decades. It’s part of Kalamazoo’s “Super Saturday,” which also includes the KIA Art Fair in Bronson Park and Greek Fest at the Arcadia Creek Festival Site. The parade is an excuse to be sill in the streets, with local groups being a little bit “punny” and being a little bit weird.

Our spoof will be based on the (somewhat) famous quote: “Curling? That’s not a sport, that’s housework.” We’ll have marchers only, no float our trailer (unless someone wants to step up quickly and commit to providing such a thing). The gist of our spoof is to have people with pink-curler-grey-wigs, nightgowns and house brooms. We’ll all start sweeping when someone yells “Sweep!” We’ll also have fans wearing foam rock hats doing the yelling and cheering them on. We’ll have some curler wigs and rock hats to use. (And we can also push baby strollers as Kent suggests, and include anything else curling-housework related someone comes up with).
