Curling will be moving back to the Annex on a brand new surface.
To help make sure it’s ready for next week, we offered the club’s time to help them paint again. Well, they just informed us they could indeed use some help after all. The only problem is, they will be doing it tomorrow at 10am. A little short on the notice, so it’s understandable if you can’t help. But, if anyone can and is willing to help, please come by Wings and help wherever you can. If you can only spare an hour at lunch, even that will be helpful.
More than likely you will be asked to paint the rings within the lines. So don’t wear fancy clothes.
Looking forward to seeing you on the ice.
Our friends at the Fort Wayne Curling Club are lucky enough to be hosting the 2010 Olympian Debbie McCormick in early November. You may remember her as the skip for the US team at the Olympics in Vancouver. Anyhow… she will be in Fort Wayne selling some curling goods and offering some instruction too. Details will be more… detailed… as the event gets closer. But for now, put Sunday, November 6 and Monday, November 7 on your calendars if this sounds like something you could be interested in. More details will surely be found on the Fort Wayne Curling Club web site.
Well, the Kalamazoo Curling Club IS going to be functioning this winter… The change in the weather has finally gotten us in gear to announce dates and times for our Fall and Winter leagues. Take a look at our event calendar for league dates, and also for a SMALL amount of bonspiels that are happening nearby.
For a full list of bonspiels all over the U.S., visit the USCA web site. We will have more information here as it becomes available… perhaps a change or two…
The folks at Wings Stadium have had a busy summer. They have taken over operations of the other ice rinks in Kalamazoo (now called Wings West), AND they have totally gutted the Annex and put in a new floor over there… which we hope will lead to an AWESOME curling experience for the club.
Stay tuned for more information… curling season starts VERY soon! Good curling!
Beginners League: $70 (no discounts for members)
Three 2-hour curling sessions with instruction
If you think you might enjoy curling this is a good way to find out. This league only lasts for three weeks, so there’s no huge commitment. All you need to play are loose fitting clothes and rubber soled shoes, like running shoes. Cost is $70. You will not be disappointed.
When is it?
Session 2: Mondays – Oct 25, Nov 1, Nov 8 from 8-10 p.m. – All dates in the Annex at Wings Stadium
To sign up, visit our league page, OR you can bring payment to the open curling session on October 4 at Wings Stadium OR you can download and print the sign-up form, and then mail that to 123 West Kalamazoo Avenue – Kalamazoo, MI 49007
